From October 15 - 18, 2015, the 9th National Collegiate Structural Design Competition was held in Kunming University of Science and Technology. HBUT's team won the National First Prize.  HBUT ranks 6th nationwide, which is the best result that a college or university in Hubei province has ever achieved in the competition.  It is also the first time HBUT has won a first prize.

The National Collegiate Structural Design Competition, approved by the Ministry of Education, is jointly hosted by the Guidance Committee of Civil Engineering in Colleges and Universities, and the Chinese Civil Engineering Association.  The competition aims to cultivate university students' competence in innovation, practice, and teamwork.
