On the afternoon of April 19th, HBUT held the opening ceremony of its 8th Reading Festival –'Reading and being absorbed in classical books'- in the hall on the second floor in the Library. The ceremony was hosted by the director of our Department of Student Service, Wang Dongming. Our university's Party chief of the Communist Party of China, Zhou Yingjia, our vice president Prof. Zhang Yingjiang and Prof. Gong Yunfa attended the ceremony.

Zhou Yingjia announced the opening of the 8th HBUT Reading Festival during the ceremony. He also presented classical books to student representatives for every school and drew the present lucky readers.

Prof. Gong Yunfa gave the opening speech and called on students to read more valuable books to be real readers. Prof. Zhang Yingjiang claimed the list of 'Reader Star' and hoped all the students could take the stars as examples to study hard and read extensively. The present leaders also undraped the newly-built reading area for classic books.
