The Program of English Language and Literature

The program aims to endow students with highly competent foreign language abilities as well as sound political and ideological integrity. The students will have a good command of the English skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating, as well as a comprehensive theory and knowledge system consisting of linguistics, British literature, American literature, Chinese culture and Western culture，equipped with social adaptability and innovation awareness. There are three specifications: English + Education, English + Translation, and English + Secretary of Foreign Affairs, with the common objectives to adjust and broaden the students’ knowledge structure, equipping the students with competitiveness, adaptability, and the potential for sustaining their development, which will lay a solid foundation for their future career and education.

The Program of Business English

B.A. in Business English adheres to the school-running concept of “English as the core, business as the background, practice as the main line”, and aims to train professionals with multi-disciplinary backgrounds and hands-on experience who have a good command of the English language and the fundamentals of a range of other disciplines including business, trade, management, finance, education, as well as translation by means of carrying out the talent-producing mode of “Language skills, business knowledge and comprehensive skills”.

The Program of Chinese International Education

The undergraduate program of Chinese International Education aims at cultivating highly-qualified talents to help promote Chinese internationally. In addition to proficiency in languages of Chinese and English, the students are required to learn Chinese culture and literature, linguistics, and intercultural exchange. Moreover, the students will also be trained in teaching Chinese as a foreign language and will be able to communicate cross-culturally. Training talents Chinese arts is an indispensable part of the program. After four years of education, the students of this program will be able to serve as competent talents in the cause of promoting Chinese internationally as well as in international communication.
