School of Technology and Education

The Vocational, Technical and Normal Institute is a teaching and research organization affiliated with Hubei University of Technology. It is formerly the Higher Vocational Education Institute founded in 1993. The institute is the only organization with vocational education master’s degree accreditation right in Hubei. In 1993, Hubei Urban Vocational Teacher Training Center was founded in our university. In May 2000, the center was designated as national key vocational teacher training base by the Ministry of Education. In 2001, the Sino-British Vocational Education and Training Center was founded in Hubei University of Technology. In 2006, the institute was granted vocational education science master’s degree accreditation rights. In 2012, Hubei Higher Education College Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Base – Hubei Vocational Education Development Research Institute – was inaugurated in our university. In 2014, the institute was designated as “excellent teacher training plan pilot base” by the Ministry of Education. In 2015, the institute began educational cooperation with Hanns Seidel Stiftung of Germany.

Main task of the institute includes education of: vocational education normal students, vocational school faculty training, and vocational education research. The mission of the school is to cultivate high-end composite talents with “teaching ability, knowledge, practical skills, and engineering background”. The institute also provides training for principals and teachers of secondary and higher vocational institutes.

In the previous years, the institute has cultivated many vocational school leaders and teachers with engineering backgrounds, and many master’s degree students of vocational and technical education science. Some postgraduate students won scholarships from the Ministry of Education and Hubei Best Master’s Degree Dissertation Prize. Several vocational education research results have won Hubei Social Sciences Excellent Research Prize and Hubei Development Research Prize. Some research reports concerning vocational education have been adopted by the government.
