Biography of Chen Fang Chen Fang, male, born in 1959, and graduated in 1984 with a college degree in Decorative Art. He is a professor of the School of Design, University of Pennsylvania, a visiting professor of the School of Arts and Design, Wuhan University of Technology, and an internationally acclaimed artist.
In 1990, he won a bronze award in the Second International Patents and New Products Exhibition.
In 1995, with a design work created for BNP Paribas, he won a prize in the final round of the 20th Munich International Calendar Design Contest. The design work was exhibited in almost all of the major graphic design art shows of the world.
In June 1999, with the invitation of the Ministry of Culture and Communication of France, he worked as a member of the jury panel in the 10th Chaumont International Poster and Graphic Design Festival. He also held a solo art show in France.
In September 1999, on the 11th Biennial Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition featuring works of artists from 32 countries, he won a gold award, which made him the first Chinese artist receiving such honor. His work We Are One Indivisible Whole was selected as the cover art of Volume 9 of The Courier by UNESCO.
In October 2001, he won a gold award from the Hong Kong International Poster Triennial.
In January 2002, Chen Fang was invited to teach in The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. With other design artists and professors of the United States, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany and other nations, Chen attended the famous design art event “graphiCooper” as a keynote speaker.
In 2011, Chen Fang was awarded first place for his cartoon, “Myopia,” at the fourth International Patio Brasil Environmental Humor Show.
His works have been exhibited at art shows held in Montreal, New York, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Ogaki, Seoul, Paris, etc., and have been permanently included in the collections of Bibliothèque nationale de France, Marriott Library, University of Utah, Ogaki Poster Museum, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Hamburg Decorative Arts Museum, Munich die Neue Sammlung, Cottbus Brandenburg Art Museum and other famous museums and art organizations.
